The bronze Effie that we won in 2023 for MediaMarkt Austria in the Retail category proves that Darwin’s Game can impact your sales.
In collaboration with the event agency Lefor Oberbauer we developed “Stars of Sales,” an innovative online tool for MediaMarktSaturn Germany’s team of over 20.000 salespeople. The goal was to use gamification to enhance their knowledge about products from industry partners, fostering healthy competition among stores, and ultimately driving sales. A year later, MediaMarkt Austria, Poland, and Hungary joined, making it arguably the biggest gaming sales platform in Europe.
The results are impressive: More than 60 different industry partners have participated in “Stars of Sales“ so far, resulting in double-digit sales growth. When submitting for the Effie, we faced the challenge of choosing among several successful campaigns. Finally, we opted for the “Alpin Liga“ campaign, which we developed for MediaMarkt Austria. It proved to be the right decision as it has earned us an Effie. Take a moment to watch the submission video.
However, our success story started before MediaMarktSaturn. Since 2021, we have been applying our gamification expertise for Hutchison Drei and its network of external owner-operated stores, including 700 salespeople. With Drei we have also been shortlisted for the Effie twice.
